Canada Ranks Low

Canada has ranked sixth out of eight on our overall environmental policy. Even ahead of us was the United States of America. However, in the categories innovation and and skills, we ranked third and first respectively. This means we have a great potential to do well, it's just that our government isn't letting us be green. There is no pricing of carbon in any which way, there is minimal funding to green technology and our emissions targets are low and still won't be met by the Harper government. We need to use the skills and innovation we already have to push us ahead of the crowd, to the forefront of being green.
OTTAWA—Canada has placed sixth among G8 nations in a federally-appointed think tank’s new report on low-carbon performance.
The ranking comes in the new low-carbon performance index produced by the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy, which is measured across five key categories and 15 indicators.
The categories are emissions and energy, innovation, investment, skills, and policy and institutions.
But while Canada placed sixth overall, the country ranked first in skills and third in innovation under the performance index.
